At the crossroads between pediatric and older adult groups, adolescence and young adults with cancer (AYAs) may be underserved or inadequately or inappropriately served by existing clinical services. Recent research suggests that AYAs are inadequately served by current support services. In addition, few articles of cancer patients and survivors have distinguished the unique psychosocial outcomes and service needs of AYAs. This article serves as a general overview of specific physical, psychosocial and socioeconomic challenges faced by AYAs.
